Here’s the thing nobody talks about when they’re gushing over “ultraportable” editing laptops: editing on a single screen absolutely sucks. I’ve been living with this machine for half a year now, taking it to shoots, using it on location, and staring at those two screens in coffee shops across the country. The dual OLED panels are genuinely beautiful. Colors pop, blacks are actually black, and the brightness is sufficient for outdoor work. The 14-inch diagonal on each screen isn’t as spacious as my desk setup, but the workflow actually clicks. I can keep my images on one side and my adjustment panels on the other—just like I do at home.

Intel’s Panther Lake processor handles my typical editing workload without complaint. Lightroom doesn’t lag, Capture One runs smoothly, and even the occasional Photoshop session feels responsive.

The Honest Verdict

Where I need to pump the brakes: this isn’t cheap, and it’s still a compromise. The dual-screen layout makes the Zenbook wider than traditional laptops. Battery life takes a hit powering two displays. And you’re definitely paying a premium for the novelty factor.

But here’s what matters for photographers specifically: if you’ve ever cursed a single-screen laptop while editing on location, the Zenbook Duo actually addresses your frustration rather than ignoring it. Most “innovations” in laptop design don’t.

Is it the perfect travel editing solution? No. Is it a genuine step forward that actually considers how photographers work? Yeah, I think so.
