I’ve been chasing the vintage lens rabbit hole for a while now. My spreadsheet has entries for somewhere around thirty budget lenses at this point, and a solid chunk of them are old manual-focus glass from the 70s and 80s. The appeal is obvious if you’ve been paying attention to used gear prices: you can pick up Canon FD, Minolta MD, Pentax SMC, or Nikkor primes for under $50 in a lot of cases, mount them on a Sony mirrorless body with a cheap adapter, and get images that feel genuinely different from what modern lenses produce.
